Devdas is a 2003 Indian romantic drama film. It is the second installment in director-actor Tarun Mansukhani's Dev trilogy. The movie stars Shah Rukh Khan, who reprises his role as Dev, with Mahima Chaudhry as Parvati "Parv" Desai. Devdas is the story of an arrogant young man called Dev (Shah Rukh Khan), who has lived most of his life surrounded by some of India's influential and wealthy people and fallen in love with their daughter Parva (Mahima Chaudhry). Devdas is the story of a love triangle, which is further complicated when Devdas is betrayed and decides to move to Calcutta. The film also follows Devdas' best friend and his wife's brother (both played by Swapnil Joshi). It was later made into a TV series in 2003. The story revolves around the life of Devdas (Shah Rukh Khan), who is very pampered by his mother, Sarbajaya (Reema Lagoo), and his younger sister, Chandramukhi "Chandu" (Gautami Kapoor). Sarbajaya's doting on Devdas creates an egoistic personality that has made Devdas very insensitive of other people's emotional turmoil. When his father, Dharamdas (Anupam Kher), dies unexpectedly, Devdas' mother is heartbroken. Parvati "Paro" (Mahima Chaudhary) consoles her, becoming a replacement daughter for her. This leaves Devdas to become more arrogant and selfish, caring for no one but himself. Some years later, during the annual Durga Puja festivities in Kolkata, Devdas' childhood friend Chandramukhi's marriage with Shyamlal "Chintu" is arranged by their parents. After the ceremony, Paro pleads to Devdas to take her to his favorite place of Kolkata. At first, Devdas is reluctant because he does not want his friend's new wife to come with them. However, after Paro takes the matter of "honor" lightly and teases him about being a coward, Devdas agrees. When they reach a fair in a small town outside of Kolkata, they meet Chandramukhi and their family at a restaurant. With luck on their side, Chandramukhi wins a small toy for Devdas as well as an expensive embroidered silk sari for Paro. The young men at the table joke about stealing the sari, but are stopped by their wives. Chandramukhi notices that Devdas is being quiet and asks him if anything is wrong. He tells her that the toy he won for her was not much, so she misunderstands his reason for being so quiet to be anger over losing at the game earlier. As Devdas takes Paro back to their carriage, Chandramukhi leaves with her husband to buy some gifts for their family. As Devdas and Paro enter the carriage, they are surprised to see Chandramukhi with them. cfa1e77820
